Seward Elementary Scholastic Book Fairs

The library hosts two book fairs each year, featuring books and other resources by Scholastic.  Classes visit the book fairs during the school day and may make purchases then.  The fall book fair hours for the public are during parent-teacher conference hours after the school day has ended.  The spring book fair typically occurs during a fantastic family event in late February or early March.   Scholastic also makes the book fair available online for those who cannot come in person or for family members who live outside of Seward but who want to support their students and the library.

Those who come to the book fair may support classroom teachers and specialists by purchasing Wish List books that the teachers have pre-selected as resources that would benefit their teaching and the students’ reading interests.

The library uses the profits from the book fairs to purchase all sorts of books for the library:  fiction books, picture books, nonfiction books and books that support curriculum.

The library also promotes a program called One for Books, which collects spare change that then is used to purchase even more books for classroom libraries and the school library.

Muffins for Moms & Donuts for Dads

Seward Elementary hosts an early morning family reading time in the library.  Come with your child, and pick out a good book or two.  Enjoy some juice and a snack, and a little one-on-one reading time with your child.  You can read to your child, or your child can read to you.  This reading event is open to all families, so come ready to read, listen, and have fun.

Second Wednesday of each month (except March and May)

7:35 – 8:00 a.m. in the elementary school

Please thank Principal Alan Haskins, for continuing to support and fund this event, and Seward Elementary staff for volunteering to make it happen.
